Students can start by earning and compiling points at any point in their studies from first to fourth year.
1. Gain
Compile “points” to qualify: everything from sustainability-related projects, volunteer work, employment, coursework, to events attended can earn you points! Check out the Points and Categories descriptions. You might have already compiled enough!
2. Register for ENSU 1000
When you are close to the required 12 points and interested in completing the one credit ENSU 1000 course, you meet with a Learning Strategist that will determine whether you are qualified for the credential so that you can register in the 1-credit course in any semester. The Learning Strategist will preapprove your registration and add it to your course schedule.
If you wish to earn the credential but do not yet meet the point requirements, we encourage you to first spend some time intentionally gaining relevant experience. Students can refer to the Points and Categories chart to learn more about how to seek qualifying experiences.
Once students are registered into the ENSU 1000 course, they are guided to complete a portfolio of their experiences, a giveback/presentation piece, and a reflective essay to be submitted at the end of that semester.
Think that you are ready? Email lead@tru.ca to book an appointment!
3. Submit
Once you have earned points and registered for ENSU 1000, you will submit an e-portfolio documenting your experiences in environmental sustainability, complete a giveback project, and a write a reflective essay. These components are well described during your ENSU 1000 course.
4. Graduate
Receive your certificate when you walk across the stage at convocation and leverage it when you apply for jobs in your field to stand out from the crowd.
